3D printed insert for the box from Root: Marauder Hirelings & Hireling Box.
This insert is designed for players who want to store Hirelings and Landmarks separately from the Root base-game box. The trays are open at the top, so components can be loaded quickly without lids or complicated handling.
- Open trays for quick loading and removal of components.
- Each Hireling tray has its own meeple symbol.
- Cards go on the bottom, with meeples, tokens, and other components stored on top.
- Landmarks are primarily stored in this Hirelings box.
- This insert pairs well with the main Root insert.
To use this insert, you need the box from Root: Marauder Hirelings & Hireling Box (2022). The insert is designed to store Hirelings from these expansions:
Hirelings with multiple meeples have their own trays. The symbols make them easy to identify, so during setup you only take the Hirelings you want to use.
- Separate trays for Hirelings with multiple meeples.
- Space for cards, influence tokens, dice, and reminder tokens.
- Simple lidless organization for fast game setup.
Landmarks are primarily stored in the Hirelings box. If you do not own the Hirelings, selected landmarks such as the Tower and Ferry can also be stored in the main Root insert.
A separate divided section stores Landmarks and the three larger Hirelings that each have a single figure:
- Protector / deer
- Outcast / bear
- Riverfolk Flotilla / otters
- Landmarks - map elements such as the Tower, Ferry, and other components from the Landmarks Pack
The main Root insert stores the main game content, factions, cards, and major expansions. This insert adds dedicated storage for Hirelings and Landmarks in their own box. Together, they provide an organized solution for most standard Root content, excluding Clockwork expansions.

The insert is inspired by a design by Sigismond0, which is freely available on Printables, including for commercial use. The final insert was created as a practical MitroCZECH adaptation; the original design mainly served as inspiration, and any individual parts used were further modified to make the insert more practical and lighter.
